Brief Description:  Left plenum gets 2 more plies of glass

After spending WAY too much time trying to knife trim and break the seal of glass to aluminum, I decided this was going to be a nightmare of a "molding" attempt. Instead of trying painfully to remove the first ply of glass from the aluminum, I had the thought that if I could find a way to hard mount the plenums as one piece, while still being able to remove them to service the plugs/wires etc without much headache, then it would be MUCH eaiser to build, finish and keep things sealed up. I looked at all the attach points and found that I can rivet nutplates to the plenums and mount both with just a few screws and get a REALLY solid install. BAM! a headache becomes that which leads to a better idea...(which ironically happens all the time).
The next thought was that if I'm going to be glassing the UNI and BID to the aluminum then Carbon is no longer an option. Corrosion could easily start happening at the bond. Instead I laid up 2 plies of UNI and 1 ply of BID on top. After a good 3 days cure, I'll dig out all the foam, clean it up and if any area shows signs of weakness, I'll be adding more glass. For now, she gets to sit until the curing is complete. I will also be filling, sanding, contouring, and painting them. I "may" actually spray epoxy primer on them vs paint so that they will end up being a matched item when it comes time to paint the airplane. hmmmm :) More to come.
