Instead of having plain jane draggy hole cutouts in the cowling for the exhaust pipes, I went for a more sealed approach. I installed 4 ply silicone hose over each pipe end and laid up 1 ply of BID tape over the silicone. This ply will not stick to the silicone hose and will provide the base around the pipes. The silicone hose also leaves a solid 1/4" gap around each pipe, perfectly shaped to match. After cure, another 2 plies BID will be added to the exterior and interior then micro for a smooth contour. Tomorrow I will also be shipping out the pipes to JET-HOT for a super sexy Polished ceramic coating. They should arrive back to me around the time the wings are being bolted on :)
