Brief Description:  Keeps getting better

So get this, After deciding to lower my cowling by 1.75", I realized that I can now fit an 11 row Single pass oil cooler. So I call Wayne over at Pacific Oil Coolers and he tells me that the 8 row dual pass cooler I have will STILL out perform the 11 row single pass. He says that only the 13 row cooler will begin to see better results. WOW. Awesome news. He says that the 8 row dual pass is by far the most efficient cooler they sell based on the amount of real estate it uses for the amount of cooling capacity it offers. WIN! So now that I've put my thoughts of a larger cooler to rest, it's time to focus on making it efficient.
The lower cowling contour is just stunning. 2 blocks of foam and some carving and it's becoming a thing of beauty. I've even got this crazy hair idea of installing a variable air exit duct very much like the P51 design. For now, we will see how this one does with the new all synthetic oil I'm daring to use. I'd prefer to keep the cowling clean, but we shall see.
Tomorrow is 2 plies BID over the new foam, then micro and contour. I highly doubt my airplane is getting any lighter ;)
