Brief Description:  Oil Cooler located

The cowl was set inside overnight which rapidly cured the UNI layups. I cleaned up the bottom then laid the cooler where I guessed it should be but it didn't look quite right to me. Something told me it was too close to the engine sump and would contact. This meant a 1 hour round trip to the airport to verify the clearances. BOY am I glad I went. I was too far forward by 3/4". This also gave me the chance to visualize the oil cooler lines and where they needed to be routed as well. Picture #2 shows the cooler in it's decided position along with the cooler lines basic routing.
After re-drilling the cooler mount holes I added 2 large rounds of z-grip to the cowling and sanded them down. I'm now ready to install a small lip just forward of the cooler and test fly it to see if there will be enough pressure inside the cowling to push air through the cooler and out the bottom. This would be the ideal install, however I'm not crossing my toes that it will work being that this kind of setup is usually on the TOP cowl and not the bottom. However, with DD cooling it may change the rules. We shall see!
