After trimming up the cowling, I took her to the airport to try everything on for size. It was ALMOST good enough. The cooling fins on the sides of the cooler stick out about 1/8" to much and contact the inside of the new cowling trailing edge. I took her back home, laid up 5 plies of carbon on the outside, knowing that I would have to grind away at the inside. Well today I was able to grind off enough to allow for a clearance of the fins but just barely. I'm going to add filler and contour the lower cowling before cutting off even more. I will HATE to have 2 small bumps in the cowling and would rather bend the cooling fins that screw up the smooth contour of the cowling. :)
