Brief Description:  Flush to fuselage

Well the truth is, the fit and finish is not perfect and will need some work, but that is easy work to do on days that are solid IFR :) A lot of sanding here and there helped get the seam line pretty good but more work to be done still. After installing both cowl halves and getting the contour good enough, I decided it would be the perfect time to take her for a spin.
I noticed right away that my CHT temps were much more even with the cowling on and that was without the plenums! Not only that but after 20 minutes of taxi runs down the runway, The temps were all in the green or yellow. Not bad! I think the CHT's will be a non issue :)
HOWEVER, the oil temps were a whole different thing. At one point I hit 262 degrees taxiing!!! I rushed the airplane over to the tie downs and shut her down. After a couple minutes they were below 250 so I fired it back up and headed to the hangar. By the time I got to the hangar they were back in the Red. SO here's the thing. NO cowling temps maxed out at 222 which is still high, but that's not flying, it's taxing. And it's also without air directed to the cooler. I'm pretty sure at this point that I will need to add at least a naca duct to ram air into the cooler. When the cowling is on, there is no air going to the cooler, just being pulled out. I don't foresee this as a big issue, but one that definitely needs to be solved before the first flight. The LAST thing I need is to worry about boiling Oil on my first flight!
