Brief Description:  Carbon work begins

The first half of the day was spent doing more x-30 and foam work, trying to get the contour as good as possible, but my foam work on this REALLY sucked. No shame admitting it. Lumpy bumpy and the last time I'll use green foam on anything large like this. Blue foam or bust. :)
As soon as I laid out the Carbon fiber cloth I was SOOOO happy I contoured the cowling this way. Looks SO cool in person, however when I wetted it out with epoxy it conformed to every imperfection in the foam and wasn't expecting that. GAH! Lumpy bumpy Carbon. WELL, how I will deal with this issue is still yet to be decided but it now gets a good 48-72 cure so I've got time to think about it. I also know that next spring I will most likely be using this cowl for a mold and making a new lighter cowling after all the changes are finished being made so I'm not TOO concerned about building this one to be bullet proof.
Tomorrow is rough river and sunday I'm headed out to help with a Long ez pre-buy so I'll re-visit this in a couple days. However I will say that I'm already VERY pleased with the shape that the UL power engine is requiring of this cowling :)
