Brief Description: Wing gets blocked and winglet gets glass
When I first finished these wings they were FLAWLESS. Unfortunately, post cure and time does a wonder on composite surfaces and now that the wings have seen almost 5 years of flying, they have most definitely arrived at their final shape, which makes it the perfect time to re-contour in prep for paint. IN the process of blocking sanding there were a handful of high spots and low spots to address, but nothing out of hand. I also tackled the aileron gaps to ensure no binding would happen under high G Loadings, and touched up a few small damage areas. At this point the lower wing is almost ready for her final white primer that will be the last before she gets paint. I'm thrilled to say the least. The second task to finish up was the rigging mod on the right winglet. The cut was made, and new position secured with micro filler. I then sanding it all down to glass today where a 1 ply BID tape will secure the cut line and is re-contoured with dry micro. The mod will be extremely affective and hide any trace of required rigging for hands off ball centered flight.
