Brief Description:  Been a while

Boy it's good to be back at the build logging :) Over the summer I have been flying a lot for work, selling a home, moving, fostering to adopt, and got another one in the oven. Needless to say I've got to get this girl in PAINT!
The last update focused on trying various oils and had really good luck with it. However, I still detect piston slap under heavy loads which has been found to be nothing less than poor piston to cylinder wall clearances. To UL's credit, it really is not the bore of the cylinders as much as the poor quality pistons they install. Case in point, UL really needs to step up their game and either spec each and every piston they sell OR install a high quality piston set. This in fact, is exactly what I am about to do. I've ordered a set of forged racing pistons from Weisco and the quality is sensational. This means a top end is in order and all the cylinders will be honed.
Knowing I needed to really focus and get my wings ready for paint, I pulled them off to make the engine work even easier. I plan to start by finishing out the wings, then tackle the engine. Cool thing happened too. After having the bird out in a rainstorm, I got to see the contour of the wings are stunning. I'd say 98% perfect. Part of the process rigging the bird to fly straight and true was blocking the rudders to center the ball. I read in a cp of a what to align the trailing edge of the winglets to hide the rigging. Cut the inboard skin above the rigged winglet, bend it slightly to match the rudder and perform a scarf joint repair. Super ez and already impressed with the process so far. I also am taking this time to repair 3 delams i found that have needed attention for a while now. One thing is cetain, when these are finished, they will be ready to show off a glass smooth paint job :)
