Brief Description:  and that's a wrap!

Well, I had cured glass this morning so I whipped up some dry micro using ez poxy for its superior post cure properties that will make a much stronger base filler than West systems. West will be used as Final filler. While that micro was curing on the canard, I spent my day prepping the elevators for wrap by re-contouring them and finally wrapping them in my favorite gunpowder matte wrap. The contouring took a lot of time as the primer was gumming up the sand paper constantly. I was finally able to remove a LOT of primer and get the right elevator ready for a wrap. I knew I should have waited for a SUPER clean garage to wrap, but I was just so excited that I took the excitement to the kitchen table. Thanks Jen!
The wrap was difficult to plan out because of all the nooks crannies and corners, so I just went for it. I wrapped the elevator with 1 large piece wrapping it around the trailing edge and overlapping on the leading edge that isn't seen. This would offer the best coverage and protection. I did add a small piece to the end of the elevator before the large wrap.
The wrap was not too difficult to apply, but took some careful attention and a REALLY sharp razor blade. In the end it took me probably 1.5 hrs to do just this one, but now I'm practiced for the second one. I will say that I am SUPER excited about this. It's a perfect surface finish with 70% less weight and will cost literally 10 times LESS than a good paint job. Can't beat that! I'm wrapping. done.
