Brief Description:  Wheel pants to the finish line!

The pants are one of those jobs that I've been puting off. But now that it went from 60 degrees yesterday, to 25 and sleeting today, I think it's a good time to knock these out. I added 2 rounds of filler to both pants, then sanded them down to contour. I also decided that I'd rather have the "possible" drag penalty of a large side cutout if it means easier access to the valve stem, tire inspection and wheel bolt torqueing. Seems to me that after removing the pants a hundred times to check your wheels and tires you'd rather give up a knot for the convenience. I'm definitely in that crowd.
They are now sanded and cleaned up for primer. I'm going to be mixing black and grey to get a darker grey color that I plan to do temp tests with this summer to see if I can find a more "snarky" dark grey and forget the paint job/wrap stuff. If I can get it darker and still be under 180 degrees surface temp on a 95 degree day than I'll probably go for it. It will be critical to get an EXACT mix ratio for future repair jobs though. Right now the grey I have sits at 160 in the sun so I've got 20 more degrees to work with. We'll see :) I also may go ahead and try wrapping them in 3m matte black to see how the vinyl temps are. I've "heard" they are lower than paint colors but we shall see. I'm just glad to know that my pants are on the way to the finish line and should look really nice for Fridays flight :)
