Brief Description:  Holy High spot batman!

It's amazing how much imperfection is revealed by block sanding an area just "one more time." Today I filled about 150 imperfections with micro vs z-grip and it was the perfect choice. instead of rushing to lay on the z-grip before it cures, I was able to mix 1 cup of micro and fill every hole just before it started to exotherm real bad. It was also warm enough in the shop to start sanding it only 2 hours after puting it on!!!! Now after wet sanding the nose a little I noticed my sanding block running over what felt like a ridge. Of course I continued sanding in 45 degree angles to see this massive hight spot start coming down in a hurry. My guess is that I was so tired of the sanding and priming routine when the airplane was upside down, that I just ignored it. Either way, I found some on both sides of the nose. Now it's "almost" perfect and ready for primer round 2. I started getting into the wet sanding of each micro buildup and half way through the airplane stopped and thought, "I really need to tackle those gear legs."
So onto the fairings. The fairing halves took a lot of work to install and it shows. Pin holes everywhere and low spots throughout. I decided to trowel a layer of slurry all over to tackle those pinholes and then spread some along the wavy trailing edges as well as a few low spots.
Tomorrow it will all be ready for a good aggressive round of block sanding and the 2nd round of primer. I think I'm going to end up ready for that primer sooner than the catalyst can get here so it may justify time spent finishing the wheel pants or something. :)
