Brief Description:  Golly Geeeeee

I swear I have no idea what has happened to my painting skill. I USED to be good at this. Bizaare stuff happening here. So far all of my paint work has looked great except on the forward portion of this canopy. Today marks 48 hours of cure since the last round of paint BUT I'm STILL GETTING WRINKLES. I have a hunch that 3 days or more would be a better option between coats. BUT it only wrinkles up front. I have no idea what's causing this but I think I may have stumbled onto a happy note after all of it. First the hammered paint went on great. perfect in fact. I let it flash for 30 minutes before adding the Satin Black when all the wrinkles decided to show up. My gosh. I let this mess cure for a couple hours then decided to try scuffling it up with a Red scotchbrite pad and something cool happened. As I worked the affected areas I noticed that the scotchbright was removing very little paint but minimizing the affect of the wrinkles considerably. Almost like softening the ridges if you will. I then continued to scuff the entire canopy, cleaned it up with soap and water and what I saw was beautiful! This REALLY nice brushed metal look of a Satin Black color. I'm almost convinced that I want the whole interior to look like this. Plus It has the benefit of smoothing out the small imperfections and dust that landed on it during cure. The only problem I see at this point is the Navajo White. The white is a high Gloss paint that may not hold the same sheen after scuffing. This will require the clear coat. BUT if I can scuff the white to a Satin finish then repairs later on will be SOOO EASY. Spray it on, Scuff it up and everything matches. I'm gonna have to do some tests with the white. :)
