Brief Description:  Major Canard Repair

My canard has served me faithfully for the last year, sitting outside on VERY hot days for hours at a time and I've NEVER had a delam. But 2 hours in 85 degree texas sun and I get a MAJOR blister area ahead of the spar. Not only that, but I'm 250 miles from home. I checked the puffed area and noted that it was NOT delaminated but only swolen due to the expansion of the foam underneath. I flew her home safely thank God. This presses me to rethink how long I want to wait before I cover up this hot primer. I need to get this thing covered BEFORE summer.
I removed the canard, brought it home and just cut out the glass that was affected. I then sanded down the expanded foam, created a FLOX corner around the border and layed up new glass strictly according to the plans. We've got a run of about 3 good warm days which will help the cure and I plan on including a good 2 hours in the sun outside for post cure before final sanding. I may even wrap this in my wrap of choice to see if any delams come back which will change my plans for colors as well. Sheesh. these ancient composite birds can really be a pain. should have this canard ready to go by the weekend.
