Brief Description:  Something new

Well, after an absolutely terrible experience with the Cozy Girlz not being willing to sell a part that is "per plans" I decided to swallow the financial loss and build my own rudder cable pulley brackets. I bought .030 SS for the task and while "pre-made" parts are nice, there is nothing better than a custom fit setup that will ensure the smoothest maintanence free operation. Had the cozy girls made their parts correctly (airplane parts), the angle of the cable routing still may not have been spot on. There is just too much slop in a hand made airplane to count on stuff like this to work right. In the long run, custom made parts are ALWAYS better. I'm hoping this new rudder cable setup will lend itself to less binding and smoother operation. As it stands, the rudder return spring isn't strong enough to retract the rudders under 30mph which is "ok" but NOT ideal. I'm even wondering if the rudders are unported in flight due to the friction in the system. I don't want to change anything up in the nose as I'm really happy with the setup at the pedals so I'm counting on working out the issues AFT.
Tomorrow, construction will begin. OH, and thank God for bad weather days, it ends up making for a better airplane ;)
