Brief Description:  An unsuccessful evening

This evening was spent confused as to why I couldn't get the pitch trim setup successfully. The plans call for the ability to trim full aft while a full forward stick motion is used and tightening the friction to JUST hold the trim position without overriding the trim setting. This was all fine until puting in the opposite control input and the spring would overpower the trim lever and cause it to change positions. I tried different springs to see if less tension would help but with no success. It was either too much tension or too little to get affective throw from the elevator. After spending several hours studying the plans and setup I noticed something out of place. The bellcrack on the elevator was positioned in a way that gave less affective throw in one direction comparred to the other. My only guess at this point is that it was riveted in the wrong position. My thoughts led me to consider cutting the tube or drilling out the rivets, all of which risks a lot of work and potentially having to rebuild the elevators completely. One idea I had was to rivet a separate arm onto the orginal that would move the cable attach points. Of course I'm left disappointed at the previous uilders inacuracy however one way or another this will be fixed. I'm going to leave the canard for another day and move on to another subject...like the throttle quadrant from Baxter Quadrants that arrives MONDAY! I better finish that throttle grip :)
