Brief Description:  Passenger Seats, Canopy work, Boots and the weigh

Today was a long and very important day. My goal was to have the entire interior finished prior to the big move tomorrow. All but the carpet is completely Finished. GOOD FEELING.
First I installed the passenger seats, then belts, then installed the pilot and passenger stick grip boots. Mrs. Ashleigh Sosebee did a fantastic job designing and sewing these up to match my interior even down to the french seam! I admit to a couple small dabs of CA on the corners to keep them down but I'm extremely happy with them. I then decided that I simply cannot be satisfied with any of the weather stripping that I've tried on the canopy so I spent at least an hour removing what I put on. The sticky residue is a nightmare to take off of a painted surface. The next job will be the LAST one. For now that will have to wait. I also made a second attempt to clean the canopy with a little more success but it still needs a scratch repair overhaul. What a shame..
Finally, with the help of a friend, I was able to place the finished fuselage on 3 scales and total it all up and here is what I found. 614 lbs as it sits. No canard (30lbs) , no prop (13lbs), and no cowling (10lbs). Of course if each wing with hardware comes in at 80lbs, then my estimated empty weight will sit right at 827lbs without wheel pants. If I can keep the weight under 845lbs then I will officially have the lightest 160hp long ez in history. And that includes really heavy 2awg wire, heavy comfortable upholstery, and seat belts. I'm sure if I wanted to fly bare bones I could see under 800lbs but if I'm only 80lbs heavier than Rutans 108hp Ez, then I'm sure the seats will stay :)
This is the last chapter of my Long ez's time spent in my garage over the last 2.5 years and I'm going to miss it.... but soon I'll be trading a hangar for a view at 8000 ft. :)
- Signing off.
