Brief Description:  Amp draw test

The Heaters are in and installation is complete. I was curious to see what my system amp draw is for sure, so I fired up the ez and turned everything on I could find. Heated seats on HIGH, all lights on, all avionics on, Everything on I could and noticed that I only draw a maximum of 15 amps without the engine running. So let's see, this would be a cold night flight with a passenger and on final to land kind of situation. 15 amps for everything lit up, 15 amps for all engine systems including the fuel pump, ignition, and ecu. Now were at 30 amps. And both heaters on my feet blasting is another 28-30 amps. The Autopilot servos draw hardly anything and I wouldn't use them on final anyways. The last thing to think of would be charging 4 mobile devices via USB ports I guess. Either way, removing the AP, and USB Ports on Final to land at night I'd be drawing almost 60 amps off my 50 amp alternator. Eh...not something I could do for very long. So what's more realistic is my heated seat on low, "High is really hot!", Day VFR, no lights, maybe a flicker of the AP servos keeping her level, and I'm only drawing about 6 amps now. Still I'm pushing that max 50 amp limit so I'll need to see in a long cross country what I can plan on using without draining the battery.
Those Big Alternator Lycoming guys will really love this setup even more than me. Pretty cool...or Hot! :)
