Brief Description:  the sump from hell

The fuel in the right tank must think that it is confined to the State Pen. It keep finding ways to escape. This time, fuel was found under my cowling flowing back to right under the exhaust pipes. Geez. I had a difficult time locating the source of the leak and have found very little evidence of where it's coming from. The fuel stain is on the aft side of the spar above the cowl lip, but the exit point isn't clear. I decided to go for a shotgun approach to solve this issue and cut out a large section of the AFT portion of the sump where leaks commonly develop on these birds and also a location that could lead to where the fuel is coming from. I laid up 2 plies BID over flox and then a small portion of peel ply to control flow during cure. Tomorrow I'll post cure it for 2 hours then re-install the section I cut out using a small amount of flox, then micro it back in contour. I'm really hoping these fuel leaks are a thing of the past. I also added a layer of pure epoxy to the aft end of the spar where fuel was seen in hopes of plugging a pin hole. Ta ta for now yo!
