Brief Description:  Hinge Hardpoint and tape line

Today, I removed more foam from the hinge hardpoint locations and got the canopy lined up and in position. I then coated the hinges with vaseline and laid up a bed of 30 minute flox above the nutplates and onto the canopy frame. This buildup is not what will support the hinges however. Instead this will serve primarily to hold the nutplates in position while filling the rest of the cavity with foam, flox, and finally Carbon Fiber. Most of the tension placed on the hinges will be in shear, so the most important buildup will be the Carbon Fiber directly underneath the nutplate. I also took this time to run a NEW tape line just above the carbon fiber frame. I used a new 3M tape and it's awesome! It's flexible for corners, sticks like hell, and is resistant to several rubs with 220 grit. Perfect for making a nice straight line that will take some abuse. After laying that down, I added a run of duct tape above that and spread a new coat of DISCOAT over the exposed areas of the canopy. It will need 1 more so tomorrow morning after cure I will get on that. Till then.....

The New tape line will serve as the line where the filler feathers into the canopy. After this the only other line will be 1mm above this one and it will be the Paint line. Can't wait!!!
