Brief Description:  New pistons here we come

Since this engine arrived from UL, it's had piston slap issues that have required the replacement of 2 pistons and 2 cylinders already. Why this is happening was written up on MyUlpower.com in detail. Basically, it all comes down to UL Power choosing to use, quite literally, the cheapest piston on the market in order to increase profit margins. The Keith Black line of pistons are widely known to be cheap and problematic due to poor machining tolerances and overall poor quality control . A quick search online reveals this via reviews and forums. To deal with this issue, you can keep replacing the suspect pistons, hoping to get "a good one", or just spend the bucks and install a quality piston from the beginning. Unfortunately, UL Power has no intention of changing their ways and I've even read emails from UL to other customers telling them that cylinder wall scoring is perfectly normal. Unbelievable. The old saying, "you can't fix stupid" could not be more accurate, so I've decided to tackle this issue on my own, as I have successfully with so many others.
Today marks the start of an all new piston install using high quality Weisco racing pistons. Side by side the quality is amazing. A true forged racing piston with quality machining is the only thing that should ever be installed in an aircraft engine, and like the trailblazer that I am, I'm going for it.
I've had some strange oil/fuel leaks that I'm still perplexed by as well that show up in picture #2. I'm going to assume that after changing out the silicone couplers and clamps, along with the piston swap, the issue will go away, but since I can't nail down the source, I'll still be keeping an eye on it. As you can see in Pic #3, all 6 pistons are scoring the cylinders walls. Here's to hoping it's a thing of the past.
