The all new NG15X that my company, 323 Composites, has brought to the market is a gorgeous masterpiece. When I went to bolt on Jack W's SS "foot" it looked terrible. There's no way I can have $1000 worth of premium nose gear hardware bolted to a shabby SS foot when even the welds were a joke. I tackled this issue and another in no time. First, the "foot" has always been overkill. The long ez doesn't need a T platform for raising the nose from the parked position and having it out in the wind only creates turbulent airflow that flows right into the oil cooler inlet. Instead, I compromised by hacking off the horizontal portion of the T and left the vertical, while adding rounded corners to "roll" on the pavement when she lifts the nose. The bottom of the new "fin" as I call it will indeed take a beating, but being stout SS it won't matter. I then traced the outside of the new NG15X and matched the width to the Fin so she looks like a machined pair. I then added Z-Grip over the welds, contoured it into a smooth radius and painted the whole thing Gunmetal Steel Metallic. It's a close match and will be easy to touch up over time. I've now reduced drag by a smidge and increased fit and finish all within 1.5hrs. Well worth it.
