Brief Description:  Micro everywhere!

Today, while the sumps were still curing I went ahead and made it a day of micro. I started out by taking a straight edge with sand paper and marking out where the low spot was on the strakes that lead into the wings. This has been an area that isn't flush so now is the time to get it right. Using aluminum tape I made a dam to allow the micro to build up in thickness at the trailing edge. I also opted for wetter micro to reduce sanding at the expense of weight. Not much, but less work sounds better to me right now :)
I then tackled a few more areas like the nose gear fairing. This has always been an area that hasn't been pampered. Fairing into the surrounding area allows for better airflow and obviously looks better. Not a bad job so I went for it. Pretty sure I'll need a couple more rounds of filler.
Still, with some left over micro I spread it over the gear leg repair area. Boy isn't this fun. :)

Note: I won't deny that a nicely designed set of nose gear doors look fantastic and most likely aid in smoother airflow and possibly even faster speeds. And while I could benefit from them, my decision has been to leave things the way they are. My decision is based on two factors. First of all, I am able to lower my gear at 125kts and slip hard without a concern. Guys who have the doors are limited to 90 kts and slips "have" been a problem in the past from experience. Add to that the moving parts that need inspection and a little maintenance and if the penalty is a knot or 2 then I'm happier without them. Personal preference of course, but I'd say with 200hp, I won't be crying about speed...
