Brief Description:  Wowza.

So I finally got to fly the new oil cooler scoop today. It was 100 degrees on the ground and a density altitude of 3000ft. The oil temps didn't seem to change in comparrison to the Naca Duct, but then, I don't think I was flying the NACA in temps this hot. She still went up to 250 on climb out. So I decided to switch over to the Hercules prop and found the temps went down a bit but not much. So I'm going to install a pair of VG's ahead of the scoop inlet which should help. I think my nose wheel may actually be sending turbulent air onto the belly. How crazy would that be that my fix is nose gear doors! LOL.

Now let's talk about this new prop. DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Static was only 2340, but as soon as I hit 35kts on the runway, it came alive and jumped to 2550rpm, then climb out was sick! Keep in mind this is a HOT and humid day. My climb was easily 1300fpm all the way to 5000ft at 2700rpm. That's what I'm talkin about! But that's not the best part. This bad boy lets my engine rev like a beast. I gained 9kts to my top end vs the hertzler up high. Not sure what it will do down low cause the air was really bumpy, but I'm LOVING this prop!

:) I may try a dual pass oil cooler now and see if that's a solution. I was advised by Wayne Blackler, that a dual pass is 15 degrees cooler. Sounds like it may be worth it. We'll see.
