Brief Description: Nose wheel gets 100hr maintenance and a bit more
For the last 100 hrs of this airplanes life, I've noticed a bit of slop in the nose wheel assembly. Just a bit too much clearance not allowing the bearing seals to seat snug against the wheel. This may have also caused drifting while taxiing which I really want to get rid of. I removed the wheel, cleaned everything up and re-packed the bearings. I was surprized that the color of the grease had hardly changed and things were pretty clean. This wheel doesn't see much load I guess. Having everything apart allowed me to slightly modify the NG-1 Bushing, add a thin washer and rid of that nasty slop. Apparently it's a wide spread issue due to sloppy machining of the parts. either way, instead of sending them to cozy girls for a modification that would take God knows how long, I've done it in about an hour of my time. She's now ready to rock n ROLL like never before.
