Well, I have an additional 428.3 Hours added in on year 2... about 50 shy of the total number of hours from year 1. Not really sure why that is but I work on it when I can - as I can. The Fuse is well on it's way to being done and I have really enjoyed the fuselage build much more than the monotony of the wings. I still can't believe I have an airplane in my garage and Teresa has been overly supportive as I have taken over the whole garage. In year 1 - I was fairly diligent about pulling Teresa's car into the garage at night... it was probably out only 15-20% of the time - whereas in year 2, it probably only spend 1 or 2 night's inside... That's what I mean about the supportive part. :)
Update : So of the original 5 of us that are building RV-8’s, they are all still cranking out airplane parts. The one that had stalled a bit last year, took a new job in a new town, moved to Houston and is back building…he is currently working on his fuel tanks! Three of us are all right at the same place – working on our fuselages, all within a page or two of each other on the builders book – and the 5th wheel, he went the Quick Build (QB) route and has been building a shop in his yard but he is still ahead since he is a QB, but we are catching up. My RV-14 buddy put his airplane building on hold fairly soon after his daughter was born (I understand!) and has since moved to the country. His last build log was updated 2/19/14… but I feel like he will be back at it in a year or so once his daughter starts asking him what that thing in the garage is. :
I still don’t know how I am going to do all of the plumbing, tubing, wiring, etc, etc.,etc… but I guess it will be like everything else, I will learn. So, I just keep going out there day in, day out. Like my buddy Mannan said, “Do something every day, even if it is just ordering a part and eventually you will finish”. Another one of my favorite Mannan saying, “We were all born terminal” – Exactly, Live each day.
