Brief Description: 4. SB 16-03-28 Rivet left side
With the rivets removed, and the primer dry, it was time to install the doublers and set the longer rivets. I wanted to finish one complete side before starting the other so that if there was something I didn't like about the entire process, I could wave off doing the other side. Once again taking my time, I used the pneumatic squeezer to set one flush head rivet on this side and then moved to the angled head attachment in the rivet gun. I don't usually like using the angled head because it rotates when driving rivets – but I don’t have a choice here due to access issues. So I find that I get better results if I tape it “in place” so that it won't rotate – and that worked today too. It shouldn't take this long to drive 8 rivets, but I don't even care. I got all 8 done and they look really good - I am happy with them. This morning I was hoping that I would have a successful day regardless of how long it took me. Well, I didn't realize that all day would only get one side done - but hey, I just asked for success, and I got it! Sweet, the left side is done!
I did some cleanup, clecoed on the left bottom wing skin and flipped the wings around again for access to the right side... a good day in the shop.
