Brief Description: Pt. 1 - underside dam and bad fit
While the resin dam was drying I closed the canopy to have the resin/flox dam flow out of the areas that it wasn't supposed to be - and fill in the areas that it could be in. But in closing the canopy, I realized that something was not right with the way the aft end of the skirt was fitting. It was contacting part of the fuselage somewhere and I could not get a good close on the canopy. I reasoned that it was probably the tape dam, so I decided just to let the mix dry with the canopy in the open position and then I could shave/sand as needed to get the skirt to fit like it did before the dam was added.
Well - after it dried, I took the skirt off and removed the tape and began the long process of finding the cause of the bump. Some part of the resin/flox dam was contacting the fuselage, but with each layer of resin/flox removal, the fit refused to get better?? Finally, after many install/check/remove/grind/sand iterations - I decided to remove it all and start over.
