While I still have the glare shield on and the windscreen in place, I also wanted to pull out the other antenna and test locate them. There is a small GPS antenna for the G3X and a larger WAAS GPS antenna for the GTN-650xi. Typical locations for the GPS antenna are in the engine compartment, on the glare screen, or on the turtle deck. I need to see what it will look like, and I also need to think about the maintenance and installation pros/cons for the locations. The small antenna mounts with screws from the bottom with integrated nuts, while the larger one mounts with screws from the top. The farther forward I place the large antenna, the less room there is for a screwdriver. I will not remove the antenna once installed, but I need to plan for a way to remove it. I only need enough room to get the bent screwdriver on the screw to tighten/loosen the nuts underneath. I also plan on a defrost fan up there, so I need to consider that - so the head-scratching continues.
