Brief Description:  Transponder support #8

I started the night looking for some nutplates and clip nuts as Spruce says they won't be shipping any for quite some time. I found some on other vendors' websites, but the shipping was astronomical. I reached out to my builder network, and most didn't have any, but two buddies chimed in and offered to help. It sure is good to have friendly resources willing and able to help a guy in need.

Then it was time to get some work done, so I warmed up the shop (again) with the heater and started the process of prepping and final assembly of the transponder support.

I remade two of the attach angles as I was not too fond of the hole centering. Also, one post needed a doubler added so that the attach angle would be against a flush surface - so I knocked that out too. I measured and cut the excess length off the bottom of the four posts and then did one more test fit with the transponder installed before starting this structure's disassembly, prep, and priming.

Another cool thing happened today as I took delivery of my wired pilot stick! Bob had recently finished his pilot stick, so I sent my stick to him to duplicate the effort. Bob cut the stick and got the grip aligned with a 19 degree left offset, and then his local electron expert and friend, Ralph, wired up the stick. Ralph also wrote up the wiring diagram - at a very fair price! The work is excellent, and I look forward to having that piece of functional art in my airplane.
