Brief Description: Wing Tip #16 - Prep for top side stiffening
The completed wing tips are fairly thin and have some flex in them, so many people stiffen them with a dowel rod or foam and fiberglass on the inside. I didn't have a wooden dowel rod but I did have a 2' x 2' sheet of 1 inch thick pink insulation foam - so I thought I would give that a try.
I decided that I would first glue in the foam and then I would glass it up to add strength With the foam being straight and the tip being curved, I wanted to glue the foam down to keep it in place - so I used a couple dabs of JB Weld to glue it down in both tips. While this was drying, I prepped the glass strips for glassing in. Unfortunately, the JB Weld was going to take 4 hours to set up so I had to go do some other chores while it set up.
