Brief Description: Canopy rollers
In the canopy drawing, the specification for the canopy roller shows an AN525-416R14 screw holding the roller to the roller mount. The problem is, if you use an …R14 screw, there are no threads showing past the nut, which is a no-no. I placed an order for 6 of the R16 screws, so that I could have a set of two for myself and a set for some of my building buddies that are close to this step of the canopy (Rob and Bob, you guys can expect a small package delivery once I get to the post office :) ).
I assembled the roller with the new, longer screw, torqued the nut and since there were a few threads protruding past the nut - all was right with the world ... until I assembled the other roller. After torquing the nut on that one, I noticed that the wheel/roller does not roll – which is counter to the function of a “roller”. It seems that the spacer is too small by just a hair and when the nut is torqued, the clamping force is transferred to the wheel. Dangit…
So, I will need to look for a longer spacer or find someone with a machine shop and a mill that might be able to make one up for me…hmmm… . :)
