Fitting the VP-100 to the mounting tray, had to slightly enlarge & extend the slots on the VP-100 tabs. (Later models, such as VP-X, have the tabs on the sides instead of the ends). When connected fully the tabs will be more difficult to reach.
Added a 3/4 x 3/4 063 angle to the side of the tray to secure it to the bottom of the subpanel rib. Added a doubler to this area of the rib to stiffen the rib flange. Black cleco will be replaced with a screw and nylon lock nut. (tried a nutplate but was not happy with the fastener for long-term access.)
Drilled, deburred, riveted the hinge to the cross-fuselage angle and tested the operation of the tray, including the removal of the hinge pin to completely remove the VP-100 control unit. Connected the J4 and J5 connectors and wiring to evaluate the wire routing when it is fully wired for operation. Appears to be well suited to swing down, while connected, to access connectors.
Plan to cut a couple of lightening holes and mount a stand-off to mount the SV-HUB on the top of the control unit tray.
