Brief Description: Control Stick Brackets, F-633L & R
Decided it was time to improve the F-633L & R brackets for the control sticks. These are the heaviest alum brackets in the entire kit. It seemed very safe to lighten them up and set-up the bracket for a little smoother design.
Trimmed the web (or flange?) leaving two mouse ear attach areas where it bolts to the aft side of the F-604 bulkhead. The attach bolts are also wing spar bolts meaning that they can't be permanently mounted now. Some builders have used nutplates to provide a secondary attach to secure the controls when the wing is not installed. I opted NOT to do this and removed the material that would used. In addition, I drilled three holes in the flange and then used the Unibit to enlarge them to about 1/2".
This won't let me carry another gallon of fuel, but if repeated on other parts adds up to several pounds. There should be no strength detriment. They do look better.
