Picked up the fuselage at Mesa (FFZ) this morning and transported to the 'hanger' (pun intended) for work in the airplane factory. Also, got the last of the loose material; main gear, fasteners, control rod material and skins.
Had the help of family members, wife, daughter and contractor-in-law. Not everyone was feeling the enthusiasm of the RV grin developing. Must have skipped a step in the Dan Checkoway lesson on "including the spouse." Hmmmmm - revisit the website.
Fuselage was very manageable by two men until it got a little tight getting around the rack/shelves. Then we needed additional support while we swung in the straps and cranked it up. The forward strap sits under the landing gear bracket & slightly forward of the temporary spar. The back strap is positioned under the baggage compartment bulkhead area.
The firewall could be lowered a little and raise the tail slightly to make it easier to walk under that area. The length of about 14 ft 6 in extends about 5 ft into the 2nd bay of the garage. This easily clears the wing cart even with the HS laid on top.
