Used an oscillating cutting (multi-tool) to remove the inside layer of fiberglass and 'core' material for providing a surface adequate for the louvers to be installed. Required removal of heatshield materials and cleaning the adhesive. Then used aggressive sanding tools to prepare inside surface.
Finally applied adequate pre-wetted layers of fiberglass cloth to re-inforce the cowl area. Unfortunately cut the left side too deeply and penetrated the outer layer of fiberglass. Will require repairs before the additional fiberglass layers can be installed.
