Brief Description: Re-fabricate flap housing side covers
When the canopy latching mechanism was installed, it interfered with the front channel of the electric flap option (housing). The attach point of the channel had to be modified to allow clearance, thereby increasing the aft sweep angle of the channel relative to the side covers. That requires new side covers. This illustrates the difficulty of building an earlier model RV QB kit and the interoperability of the option kits, combined with incomplete data (lack of a Finishing Kit) at the time that one task or another is performed.
With a fuller understanding, I re-fabricated the left and right side covers, and also modified the aft channel attachment hardware slightly by countersinking the screws on both the top and bottom ends.
Also did some flap motor operation testing to cycle the left flap up and down, checking the range of travel and proper operation of the clutch. Impressive little gizmo.
