Started reviewing the preparation for wing mounting, and location of the vents, fuel lines, and brakes lines. Reviewed several drawings and re-visited pic of Mike Cycon's plane at this stage.
Mounting the fuel tank support is a little tricky because I don't find exact dimensions called out on the drawings. Concerned that even 1/16" of error would cause it to either exert pressure or interfere with the tank mount. Neither is acceptable.
I'm becoming convinced that the RV-6A has some 'sequencing' issues that make this phase difficult. I wanted to mount, drill, and remove the wings before continuing with systems and engine installations. It appears that will be difficult because the main gear mounts are through-bolted to the wing main spar and without the gear secured it will be difficult to hang the engine on a fuselage without wings.
It may be possible to work around the main gear mount issue, but I don't see how to hang an engine without the wings being installed. And wings installed make the workshop very tight and impossible to transport the plane. May be possible with a faux spar, and sufficient 'external' supports, then remount the wings at the airport.
