Brief Description: Finish door latch pins - copilot door
This is the second entry today, even if Kitlog decides it's the first.
With the door pin guides in place, I needed to adjust the length and clocking of the pins. Testing with the latch in open and closed position showed that my rough length was about 1/4" too long. So I trimmed the tube end and re-tapped to full depth. Even with the setscrews at full depth, it was necessary to tap the machined pin ends another 1/8" or so to get them to seat against the tube. Then I carefully filed the end of the tube back until the pins were clocked in the correct direction. Finally, I reinstalled the pins and made sure they fully engaged in the closed position (Image 1) and left the door free to open in the open position (Image 2 and also showing the clocking). With the door locked into position, I could finally accurately locate the cutout for the flush latch, which will be added when the door is removed. First, though, I need to add the strut mount on this side.
