Brief Description:  Engine Mount and wheels, and external canopy latch

Yesterday I dimpled the fuselage side skins and installed the canopy latching mechanism, this was much more mucking around than I thought it would be, I had to remove the canopy because I can't open it fully in my garage.1 hour later and the rivitng was done and the canopy re-insatlled.

Today I installed the tubes into the tires and assembled the wheels using lots of talcum powder, it was a very simple process, inflated and defalted each tire 3 times to work out any kinks in the tubes.

Then I drilled the top holes for the engine mount using the pre-punched holes from VANS and then back drilled the other 4 holes using the engine mount as the guide, installed the bolts, washers and castle nuts, wow this was much harder than I thoguht it would be, all those layers of metal make for lots of swarf.

I plan to install the gear legs and wheels so that I can turn the fuselage around more easily and allow me to open the canopy, things are getting very tight in the garage now.

Also my PlastiFix repair kit has turned up, so I can start practising on some scrap plexi and then try it on the crack in the right forward part of my canopy, looking at the repair done on a B25 turret, this stuff seems to be the way to go.
