Brief Description:  Prosealed wedge into rudder

This evening I back drilled a 1.3 meter length of aluminium angle to match the rudder trailing edge, in preparation for gluing the rear axe wedge in between the two rudder skins. I started by rubbing back the inside surfaces of the rudder skins with scotch bright and then wiping clean with thinners. I then did the same to the axe wedge itself. With this completed I then heated the small container of proseal with a heat gun to make it pliable and then mixed in the black catalyst.

Each of the stiffener angles was then give a blob of proseal and then the wedge was thinly coated with proseal on each side using a paddle pop stick, I then used my gloved hand to wipe off excess proseal from each side of the wedge leaving just a thin dark grey coating. The wedge was then inserted in between the rudder skins and clecoed into place. I then heated the skins with the heat gun to help the thicker areas of proseal escape from between the skins to leave a smooth strait trailing edge (I hope). Now to let it set for a day or two, I'll check back tomorrow night to see how its going.
