Brief Description:  Installing Magentometers

I used my iPhone level to measure the slope of the longeron where I mounted the tray. I then measured the tray for the AHRS. There is a 3.3 degree difference (Upper Longeron rises towards the front of the aircraft). So... I built an angle into the tray to put the magetometers on the same axis as the AHRS. (They were already aligned longitudinally and in roll. Now the are aligned in pitch).

I measured the distance in the mounting holes on the magetometer and with high school trigonometry, I calculated that I need a 0.279 increase in the reare mount. I was off to the hardware store to buy brass screws. I found some nice .250 nylon spacers. I had wanted to put a horizontal member across to prevent the units from any posibility of roll. Adding 0.030 was PERFECT. I measured the pitch as 3.3 degrees. (Figure 1)

With all this prep, the system went in smoothly.

The third picture is looking down from the canopy stop on the completed assembly.

I must have crawled back in the tail at least 20 times. It is tight and uncomfortable. I will have to do it again when I install the Static Ports, but I am done for a while. YEAH.
