Brief Description:  ELT Harness and Bracket

Since I now had some new wire to play with, I figured I'd put it to good use.

The data cable for providing GPS information to the ELT has to be fabricated. They provide the connector, but you have to solder the wires etc. These are 22 ga wires in a 3-conductor shielded cable. Had to strip the outer covering and shield (it's only used at the panel end), then stripped the ends on the 3 data cables, plus one stand-alone cable for test purposes. There is only about 5/32" of conductor to solder to the equally small pins on the connector, so it was trying. Got them all soldered. Used heat shrink on the ends just in case one of the solder joints comes loose (!). Loaded the inner housing with silicone caulk as per instructions, then slipped the outer housing in place.

I then mounted the ELT to the fuselage inside the hell-hole inspection panel. I used a backer plate just to provide some additional support. Bolted in place with #6-32 screws, washers, and nuts.

Ran the data cable and the telephone cable (hooks to the panel controller) thru the fuselage channels.
