Brief Description:  Swap purshrods around & mount oil sump & intake ma

Spent time removing pushrods and swapping them with other cylinders. Got it down to where I only need one new plus-sized pushrod; will check around tomorrow (Monday).

On the cylinders that checked out OK, before installing for the final time I lubed-up everything with 50 wt oil as per overhaul manual. Lubed pushrods, rockers, rocker shaft and associated bushings. Installed rocker covers with one screw each just to let me know they are the good ones.

I next installed the oil sump. First I had to install the pickup tube which is sealed with a copper/asbestos crush washer. You install the tube by had - JUST hand tight. Then turn it 135 deg past that point for a 16 TPI tube. Lastly, the tube is secured with safety wire connecting to the engine case.

After the tube was installed, I installed the sump tank. This started out well, but turned frustrating. Manual says to use elastic locknuts; that worked fine for the first 3 studs I encountered. Then, I couldn't get anything to fit on the last 3 studs. Used an all-metal locknut on two of the studs; that fit just fine. Lastly, the 6th stuff would not accept anything. I re-used one of the smaller all metal locknuts that I removed during disassembly.

Lastly, I installed the intake manifold. This requiers speicial lock-o-seal washere which appear to be a rubber-lined metal washer. Then castle nuts are installed ONLY finger tight. A wrench is usd only to rotate it to allow cotter pin insertion. Installed cotter pins and we're good.
