I had previously installed the safety wire in the ends of the elevator piano hinge to keep the pin from sliding out. My horizontal stab had a corrective patch installed that added short lengths of additional safety wire to each end of the main hinge. See Pic 1 below. Today I instsalled the two short lengths of hinge pin, then drilled and installed safety wire to keep these smaller sections in place, just like the main hinge.
While I was installing the hinge pins, I glanced at the bottom of the elevator and was somewhat surprised to see that only one rivet was in place to hold the trim motor inspection plate on. I guess I did that during construction just to ensure the trim motor worked correctly. That was checked out the other day, so I just added more rivets.
In getting ready for the wings ultimately being installed once painted, I instsalled one of the counterweights for the flaperons. There are 4 total, one for each flaperon. This required some careful measuring in order to ensure the new rivet holes lined up properly with the alreay existing holes. I did better than I thought I would!
