Brief Description: First sustained engine start
|
|
No pics.
As noted, on the 4th I had a momentary engine start to confirm I fixed the timing issue.
Today I pulled the plane out of the garage and set it up for another start. Had #1 son help pullimng the plane out and putting back.
Still had a rough start; had to again use starting fluid (ether) to get it to start. But, once started, it ran well. Idled correctly and had no hesitation when advancing the throttle. Ran about 6-10 minutes. Monitored the CHTs because they're not suppposed to hit 300 in an un-cowled situation.
Could not get a tach reading on the EFIS, but the EIS showed it. Which is odd, because I had the P leads disconnected from the mags after prior investigations. Also, I forgot to turn on the alternator, so I'm unsure if it works. No reason to doubt it; just want to make sure.
Also, note the span of time between the two starts. We were out of state for some of that time, and then I had to wait for parts. While we were working in the driveway on things not even touching the plane, all of a sudden we heard an odd noise. Turns out the nose wheel decided to go flat! Had to buy a new tube, and then upon my return last week, had to install the new tube.
