Brief Description: Start rivet of horizontal stab tips to stabilizer
First activity was to cut a power lead from the right side breaker area in order to lengthen it. Was just too tight and I was concerned about it abrading on the angles that held the radio atack.
Cut, inserted new wire, and sodlered in place. Protected with heat shrink tubing.
I've been prepping the horizaontal tail and elevator for paint so I can move them to the hangar. I had previously primted both. Today I installed both the left and right stabilizer tips. I only riveted the top surface of both ends since I ran out of time before supper out.
If you notice in the enclosed pic, there are larger rivet heads on the front side of the tip; these are "bulbous rivets" that act like a hollow wall fasterner since the grip side of the rivet only grabs the plastic of the tip. The aft side has the plastic riveted to the tip rib, so it's into metal, allowing a regular A4 rivet to be used.
