Brief Description:  Cool down the garage

I'm in DFW. It's July. And miserable. Heat index of 108. My garage/shop faces west. I'm tired of dripping sweat (corrosive) onto the aluminum.

Sams had a good deal on a portable a/c / heater unit that was good for 700 sq ft, and my garage is just over 400. I went for it. Getting the unit up and running is still a work in progress. The exhaust vent can't be bent at 90 deg angles, the hose is too short for where I wanted it, so last night my son and I hefted it to the top of the workbench. This allowed it to blow around a bit more. My floor fan has been going the entire time as well.

At 4 pm today, it was 84 deg in the garage at 55% humidity. Abut 98 or 99 outside, so I'm happy. Could be colder, but I got far more done than I would have without it.

The above was done Wednesday. Yesterday, Thursday, I purchased a Owens-Corning garage door insulation kit. Well, I bought 2, cuz one is for a one car garage and I have a two car. Installation very straightforward. Minor trimming of each piece because each garage door (and panel) is slightly different. THIS made the biggest difference in temps. Note the top and bottom rows are not yet done (box #2...) Soon.
