Brief Description:  Nose Strut Donuts / Start to mount tire

Had some time after supper and it was decent outside, so.....

Checked-out the bearing block for the rudder pedals. Definitely need longer bolts - AN3-17A. Once loosened, the pedals pivoted easily, so this will need to be investigated.

Removed all of the silicone dounts and washers from the nose wheel strut. I used DC4 Dupont grease, but they seemed like they were glued in place! Used a pair of screwdrivers and pried off each donut and washer. Cleaned everything up a bit. Took a dremel sander to the aluminum washers since some were binding on the strut.

Next, I dug out the white lithium grease from the engine box and really lubed 'em up. They slid on much easier, but the full stack is still a bit sticky. Hopefully won't be too bad installed.

Lastly, since now have the main landing gear spring installed, it's time to think about mounting the wleels so I can push it around. The Matco wheels come fully assembled (no tire of course), so I had to take them all apart. See the hardware and parts in pic 2 below. The center "hub" section on the left lower part of the pic was tight in the wheel half - I thought it was a press fit. When I tried to install the tube, it would not fit in the hole between the wheel and the hub. Then I noticed a small space between the hub and wheel; a few taps with a hammer and they separated. Much easier! Slid the tire over 1/2 of the wheel and tucked the tube in the tire. Really should add some talcum but with the cancer scares now I have no idea if I'll be able to find. Also, I didn't have a tire chuck handy to partially inflate the tube to ensure it's not pinched. Called it a night.
