Several little areas, all contributing to the overall success.
First up was to install some nutplates on the inspection hole covers I drilled and counter-sunk yesterday. I had some left over from last build, so didn't dig out the Zenith-supplied parts (same thing though). Installed 5 nutplates on each cover, as I only had 10. Since these use 3/32" rivets, I had to dig out my old Arrow riveter as that was the only one I had that would handle the narrow stems. Had to open-up the screw holes as they were exactly 3/16, which lead to the screws threading themselves into the holes - just a hassle.
Next, I cleco'd the outer wingtip extension in place and up-drilled 8 of the mounting holes to 3/16" (#12 drill) and riveted with A6 rivets - these are honkers! Also installed the remaining 5 A5 rivets.
I then figured I had some time left, so I cleco'd the inner root rib and root nose rib into position; these also require the remaining 2 A6 rivets and it was a pain doing this after the other ribs were installed (just angle/access issue). As with the right wing, where the nose rib meets the L-angle already in place to support the upper root skin, I had to file some relief notches in both the L-angle and the base of the nsoe rib. Rivet will come tomorrow or the next day.
